Any local will tell you, the truly special thing about living on the Sunshine Coast is being surrounded by the best nature has to offer. Surrounded by the green and blue of the rain forest and coastal environment, living local means letting nature take care of the bells and whistles.
Self-proclaimed shopaholic Kirra finds the perfect work/life balance on the Sunshine Coast. “The coast has a city vibe but at the same time, the ocean is right at your doorstep.” When she isn’t at her job as a bridal hair and makeup specialist, Kirra explores nearby shopping and the Sunday market where creativity abounds. “I would never live anywhere else.”
Climate, community and lifestyle have led surfer mum Leanne to call the Sunshine Coast her forever home. Leanne is a mum of three: a student at nearby University at the Sunshine Coast, a childcare program graduate and an entrepreneur. Her children remain in the community they grew up in and adore. For son Mitch, the Sunshine Coast is the perfect location for his café and surfboard shaping businesses. “It’s always the community that backs the small businesses, which is lovely.”
When Stephen isn’t working as a part-time lifeguard, he’s enjoying the coastal lifestyle, golfing and sampling healthy cuisine. The sense of community is an aspect he admires most about his home. “Everyone says hello when you see them on the street.” Stephen frequents nearby Cotton Tree for its variety of coffee shops and enjoys the short 30-minute drive west to explore the mountains and gorgeous natural waterfalls. “This is where I’ll call home. This is where I’ll bring up my family.”
Mum of twin boys, Eliza balances her career as an architect with spending time with her family and friends. Taking a break on the days she spends working from home, Eliza sips her morning coffee while watching the boys play at the park, dreaming of the day that they will take up surfing, skateboarding or many of the other popular sports of the Coast. “I like to spend quite a lot of time outdoors and it really is about that outdoor lifestyle.” “I really love living on the Sunshine Coast and see myself living here for quite some time.”
The centrepiece of our community is the amazing linear park, which forms a natural connection between all our green spaces, the neighbourhoods, amenities, sports, facilities and our buzzing town centre. Stretching the length of 10 footy fields across Harmony, it’s a series of interconnecting parks, each with their own facilities and spaces you can use for kick-abouts and gatherings to remember; an oasis of landscaped greenery that’s designed to bring people and places closer together. All of the parks are linked by walking and cycling paths that provide 60 kilometres of scenic landscape while you enjoy your daily exercise. No matter where you choose to live in Harmony, you’ll never be more than 500 metres from a park.
To live in Harmony is to be wrapped in the arms of nature. Surrounded by beautiful hinterland and reserves, we’ve created a grand network of parklands and green spaces that thread through and connect the entire community. We’ve made sure that getting around Harmony is a walk in the park. Whether you want to take a stroll to the town centre, run to your favourite spot in Palmview Conservation Park or the magnificent Mooloolah River National Park your set the pace. No matter whether you stroll, jog or love to cycle, there’s every reason to leave the car at home.
