Park trifecta for Sunshine Coast as Harmony unveils green plans

July 14, 2023

Sunshine Coast locals are one step closer to three new community facilities as AVID Property Group (AVID) unveils plans for more than 22 hectares of recreational parkland and sporting facilities in its coveted Harmony community in Palmview today.

Located in the community’s Unity neighbourhood, the new green space will consist of three separate parks including a one-hectare local park, a five-hectare district recreational park and a 16-hectare district sports park which will be delivered progressively as the neighbourhood grows.

The new parkland is part of more than 130 hectares of planned open space in Harmony.

AVID Property Group General Manager Queensland Bruce Harper said the addition of three parks to the Unity neighbourhood would make it Harmony’s greenest neighbourhood.

“All residents in our Unity neighbourhood will be within 200 metres of a park or green space once all three parks are complete,” Mr Harper said.

“We’re so excited to announce the plans for these great community hubs – for our residents and for the wider Sunshine Coast community.”

Encompassing the entire southern edge of the Unity neighbourhood, the 16-hectare district sports precinct will be delivered in two phases, with the first eight-hectare phase to include three multi-use sporting fields and clubhouse facilities.

Once completed, the district recreation park, located north of the district sports park and with easy access for all Unity residents, will have something for all ages and interests to enjoy, from kicking a ball around with the family on the grass, to enjoying a picnic with friends under the shade shelters and exploring the all ages and toddler playgrounds.

Children of all ages and experience levels will also be able to tackle a series of bike tracks and skills courses on the planned bicycle pump tracks. The district recreation park will also cater to family pets, with a future dog park planned for dogs of all sizes.

“We want our residents to live happy and healthy lives, and by providing a number of recreational spaces we are able to offer something for everyone in our community,” Mr Harper said.

“Once complete, Harmony will boast more than 130 hectares of open space for residents and Sunshine Coast locals to enjoy.

“The release of these parkland plans is a major milestone for AVID and the broader community as residents will be able to use these spaces as a central hub to connect with neighbours and create life-long friendships and memories.”

AVID has also this week launched land release 8B in its Unity neighbourhood, with 19 new blocks of land now on offer.

“Catering to a variety of lifestyles and budgets, our blocks in Unity release 8B range in size from 300m2 to 450m2 and start from just $243,500 for a 300m2 lot.
